IN THIS LESSON
Before beginning you will need these items:
Large pot with a rack (or Waterbath canner)
Mason jars
Lids and bands (new lids each time)
Jar lifter
Canning funnel
Bubble remover
Clean towels
Vinegar
Now you will want to set up your canning station. Lay out all of your ingredients for the recipe you have selected. Be sure everything is prepped, washed, and cleaned. Don’t forget to line your counter with a towel to place your hot jars on. Prepare your food according to recipe instructions. Fill your canner with water. Heat your jars in preparation to be filled. You can raw pack or hot pack foods. Hot packing takes a little more time but in my opinion you are able to get more food in the jars. Remember hot jars, hot food, hot water or cold jars, cold food, cold water. We don’t want those balls to bust! Check out my recommendations at the bottom of the page for the items I use in my kitchen and love.
